Kristina Jansson’s paintings involves a work process that draws inspiration from current and historical events, with references from various media and popular culture. Furthermore, Jansson investigates different types of spaces: private, public and temporary fictional architectural spaces such as the theater stage, the film set, the music studio and the museum. Jansson’s work is at the same time seeking and evasive, and she has consistently returned to the question of the importance of painting as a medium in our time. Through processing fragments from our collective stream of images via intuition, perception, and memory she uses painting as a visually seductive construction. A transformed place disconnected from time and space.
