XAVIER VEILHAN - Les Chiens: Paris

Xavier Veilhan’s Dogs are monochromatic and larger than life, confronting us with the illusion of their realness that contrasts with the strangeness of their colour and size. Veilhan plays with the notions of the generic, of the industrially produced object and of universal representation, creating objects at once ambivalent and stark. Well-known for his sculptures that convey his interest in the vocabularies of both classical statuary and modernity, his work is multi-faceted, also encompassing installation, painting, photography as well as hybrids of all of these, whilst also engaged in performance work and filmmaking. He has made numerous public works in locations across the world.
