Like most French people, on 17 March 2020, the artist went into lockdown. This forced reduction of resources and space led him to return to the essential, original medium of drawing, which he gradually practised on a daily basis. The dominant use of a ruler, a compass, felt tip pens and geometrical pointers on A3 paper emerged from this and 300 drawings came out of this period. Some of them echo historical or artistic references, whilst he used a freer hand for others, with geometrical figures, colour matches, architectural references and urban outlines, etc. They will be exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne from the 10th of June until the 6th of November, 2022. Due to this presentation, a set of nine drawings has been proposed for a donation by the artist to the Musée d'Art Moderne.
A catalogue was published by Les Presses du Réel in collaboration with Xavier Veilhan. It gathers 155 drawings from this period and can be ordered on the editor's website.
